Hazelwood Preschool is seeking a creative, energetic, and experienced Art and Movement Lead to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who loves working with young children, feels confident leading groups, and is excited to design and facilitate engaging art and music/movement experiences for children ages 2–5.
This position blends hands-on classroom support with leadership of Hazelwood's art and movement programming, making it a great fit for someone who enjoys both collaboration and creative autonomy.
Schedule
• Mondays: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Assistant Teacher in our 3-year-old classroom
• Tuesday–Friday: 9:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Teaching Art and Music/Movement classes for all four classrooms (ages 2–5)
Key Responsibilities
Mondays – Classroom Support
• Support lead teacher in the 3-year-old classroom
• Assist with daily routines, transitions, outdoor time, and care needs
• Help maintain a warm, safe, and engaging classroom environment
• Build positive relationships with children and fellow educators
Tuesday–Friday – Art and Movement Lead
• Plan and lead developmentally appropriate art and music/movement classes for children ages 2–5
• Teach multiple classes each week across Hazelwood's four classrooms
• Create engaging, hands-on experiences that encourage creativity, movement, self-expression, and joy
• Adapt activities to meet the needs of different age groups and learning styles
• Confidently manage group dynamics and transitions
• Prepare and organize materials and help maintain a tidy, inspiring creative space
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to align programming with Hazelwood's values and curriculum
Additional Program Leadership
• Help plan and support school performances (approximately three per year)
• Collaborate with staff on age-appropriate performance concepts and creative elements
• Occasionally curate and lead creative programs for our families
Qualifications
• Required: Experience working in early childhood education (licensed child care, preschool, or similar setting)
• Preferred: Experience planning and leading creative activities for young children (art, music, movement, dance, or related fields)
• Comfort leading groups of children independently
• Strong communication skills and an outgoing, positive presence
• Genuine enthusiasm for early childhood education and creative learning
• Ability to stay organized, flexible, and responsive in a dynamic preschool environment
