Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant (Bachelor Level) with 1-3 years of experience and a genuine interest in drug development. A background in molecular biology/biochemistry and/or cellular biology is required. The ideal candidate will have experience with DNA technologies; experience with biochemical assays and/or drug-characterization is a plus. Main goals will include validation of our drug-like hit compounds, biochemical and cellular characterization. This position represents a great possibility to grow with our multi-disciplinary team.
Position highlights: Conduct Molecular Biology and Biochemistry experiments to support internal research projects. Assist a Senior Scientist with large scale experiments including quality controls and experimental reporting for our screening related experiments. Assist the scientific team with shared lab management tasks. Due to the nature of the work, attention to details is required. Prepare experimental progress reports and update protocols as needed. Flexibility to work in a collaborative environment to achieve project goals and scientific advancements. Collaborate to integrate data into broader research framework. Possibility to present own results to the team on a regular basis.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree (BSc) with special emphasis on Biochemistry or Molecular Biology is ideal.
Experience: 1-3 years of lab or industry experience. Relevant experience includes bench work in the fields of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Cellular Biology.
Technical Skills:
- Standard molecular biology techniques . Some exposition to DNA related experiments is a plus. This includes DNA analysis by gel electrophoresis, nanodrop quantification, bioanalyzer QC, DNA ligations, PCR.
- Standard b iochemical techniques including protein analysis (e.g., PAGE and western blotting analysis), ELISA testing, secondary messenger assays, cell sample preparation, and protein dosage.
- Cell biology : preferred if the candidate has some experience with mammalian cell culture, transfection, or biochemical/cell toxicity assays.
Organizational skills: Attention to details is required. Ability to annotate and organize samples to be treated and archived. Demonstrated ability to manage own time and meet deadlines. Lab management skills are a plus (e.g., keeping track of lab stocks, organizing stocks and deliveries). Ability to digitalize results, create reports, and collaborate effectively with team members.
