Job Description: Building Envelope Consultant - Structural Engineer (PE) - New York, NY

Position Overview

They are seeking a Licensed Structural Engineer to join their growing New York City team. The ideal candidate will bring a robust background in building envelope consulting , facade restoration , and structural engineering . A New York PE license is essential, and candidates should either hold a Qualified Parking Structure Inspector (QPSI) certification or have the ability to obtain it within six months.

This role offers a balanced mix of building envelope consulting (50%) and restoration work (50%) , with opportunities to engage in structural engineering and consulting projects as the office continues to expand its services.

Key Responsibilities:

Building Envelope Consulting (50%)

  • Provide expert guidance during construction, including design reviews, material assessments, and compliance checks.
  • Ensure building envelope systems meet performance standards and align with client expectations.

Restoration & Structural Work (50%)

  • Lead facade and parking structure restoration projects, performing condition assessments, diagnostic testing, and remedial design.
  • Conduct structural evaluations and forensic investigations for existing buildings and parking structures.
  • Support and contribute to broader structural engineering initiatives as opportunities arise.

Collaboration & Market Development

  • Work closely with architects, contractors, and project teams to deliver innovative and effective solutions.
  • Cultivate relationships with clients within the New York City region, ensuring high levels of service and client satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Licensure & Certification

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New York (required).
  • QPSI certification is preferred; candidates must be willing to obtain this certification within six months if not already certified.
  • Experience
  • Minimum of 3+ years in building envelope consulting , facade restoration , and structural engineering .
  • Expertise with curtainwall systems, rain screens, and pressure-equalized systems is highly desirable.
  • Skills
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Fieldwork

  • Comfortable conducting site observations, condition surveys, and diagnostic testing on construction sites.
