Job Description

A global law firm with a top-tier reputation is seeking a Business Development & Marketing Manager to support its transactional practices across the Midwest and Texas . This is a strategic and visible role within a highly respected BD & Marketing team, with the opportunity to partner directly with senior stakeholders and practice leadership.

This position is based in Chicago and follows a hybrid work model .

The Role

This position will drive business development initiatives and market positioning strategies for high-performing corporate practices, including M&A, Private Equity, and related areas. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to partners and senior leadership, supporting client targeting, pitch strategy, and profile-raising efforts across key regional markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead marketing and BD initiatives aligned with practice and regional growth objectives.
  • Develop targeted client campaigns, pitch materials, and presentation decks in partnership with attorneys.
  • Manage a sales pipeline process, including lead tracking, follow-up strategy, and pursuit team coordination.
  • Draft and oversee high-quality proposals, capability statements, and RFP responses.
  • Build and execute strategic business plans in collaboration with partners and department heads.
  • Monitor industry trends and drive the development of thought leadership content.
  • Identify opportunities for sponsorships, rankings, speaking engagements, and legal directory submissions.
  • Plan and manage client-facing events and engagement strategies, working with internal events teams.
  • Track ROI and measure success of initiatives using internal systems and analytics tools.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of business development or marketing experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Transactional practice support experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to draft compelling marketing content and tailor messaging for strategic pursuits.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Proficiency with relevant software, including Microsoft Office Suite, InterAction (or CRM equivalent), and marketing tools.
  • A team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
