Job Description

Position Summary: This person has 5+ years of carpentry experience. Perform rough and finish carpentry in the alteration and construction of buildings, cabinets, and specialty wood items. Consult with clients and contractors in a professional manner, assigning tasks, making sure carpentry jobs are completed in due time and ensure work is performed according to Schuchart standards. Discipline, mentor and monitor performance of employees. Support activities at all Schuchart job-sites as directed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:

Lead journeyman-level rough and finish carpentry work on construction projects.

Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine material, equipment, and labor requirements.

Estimate project timelines, material needs, and other resources.

Monitor self-performance and track production rates to ensure timely completion.

Develop and manage work schedules, crew assignments, and site logistics.

Perform job hazard analysis and enforce safety protocols; ensure crew members are properly trained and equipped.

Maintain accurate records of operations, safety practices, and project progress.

Monitor inventory levels and request supplies or equipment as necessary.

Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and properly maintained.

Identify potential issues proactively and implement solutions to mitigate risks.

Engage with clients, contractors, and team members in a professional and collaborative manner.

Ensure the quality and timeliness of carpentry work while adhering to project specifications.

Provide mentorship and performance oversight for crew members.

Coordinate crew safety, equipment, and tool training to maintain a high standard of operational safety.

Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Repetitive climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and reaching overhead.

Use of hands and wrists with various tools.

Prolonged use of jackhammers and pavement breakers.

Climb ladders multiple times per day.

Use of wheelbarrows and brooms.

Repetitive use of hands and wrists using power, rotational, and vibration tools.

Tolerate legally permissible exposure to dusts and chemicals, such as cement dust, solvents, and other construction-related substances.

Must be able to hear commands from supervisors and back-up safety alarms on equipment.

Skills Or Experience Requirements:

Current Journeyman Carpenter license/certificate required.

Minimum of 2 years in a Foreman carpenter role or similar leadership position.

Comprehensive knowledge of rough and finish carpentry, including tools, materials, safety practices, and building techniques for both new and remodel construction.

Strong attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, mathematical skills, and physical stamina.

Basic computer literacy.

Ability to lift and/or move 75 lbs., work from ladders or lifts, and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.

Ability to stand, squat, kneel, and bend for extended periods, wearing a tool belt.

Adhere to OSHA and Schuchart safety protocols.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outdoor weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation: The hourly range for this position is between $40 to $55, with a starting hourly rate of $40 for candidates with limited experience as Carpenter Foreman.
