Job Title: CTO/Co-Founder – AI/AR Events Tech Company

Location: NYC, SF, Boston, Austin, United States (Remote available)

Compensation: $150,000 base salary + 10% equity (initial company valuation $6M)

About the Client: Our client is an innovative AI/AR startup in the QR code space, focused on transforming the events industry. Partnered with a visionary founder/CEO, they are building a cutting-edge platform that merges immersive AI and AR technologies with real-world event experiences. Currently, they are in a critical phase of securing initial funding and are looking for a hands-on CTO/Co-Founder to join the leadership team, take ownership of the technical function, and drive the company’s growth.

Position Overview: Our client is seeking a highly experienced, hands-on CTO/Co-Founder to lead and scale their engineering team, execute the product roadmap, and oversee all technical aspects of the company. As the independent owner of the technical function, you will be responsible for daily technical decisions, guiding the development process, and scaling the team. You’ll work directly with the founder/CEO and be actively involved in securing funding and shaping the company’s direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical vision and execution of the company’s product roadmap, focusing on mobile-first solutions.
  • Manage and scale the engineering team, focusing on AI, AR, and mobile app development (UIKit & SwiftUI).
  • Own the architecture and development of the core platform and technologies.
  • Collaborate with the founder/CEO and leadership team on business strategy and fundraising.
  • Build and maintain a high-performance engineering team that aligns with the company’s growth.
  • Drive innovation in AI/AR, ensuring the product remains market-leading and cutting-edge.
  • Set and execute clear milestones for technical development and team growth.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the engineering team.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in engineering leadership, including significant experience managing mobile-first product development (Swift, iOS).
  • Proven success in scaling AI/AR products or leading engineering teams in high-growth, innovative tech firms.
  • Strong understanding of mobile architecture and development processes.
  • Experience managing and growing engineering teams, with the ability to mentor and attract top talent.
  • Excellent technical background and the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for building impactful products and a desire to contribute to a high-potential startup.
  • Experience in securing and managing funding rounds is a plus, but not required.
  • A self-starter with a growth mindset and interest in contributing beyond just technical leadership.
