Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Cisco Network Engineer to join our infrastructure team in Owings Mills, MD. This role will focus on the configuration, administration, and ongoing maintenance of Cisco network equipment across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in Cisco routing, switching, and troubleshooting , with hands-on experience managing large-scale enterprise environments. You'll play a critical role in ensuring network reliability, scalability, and security while supporting data centers and distributed locations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Configure, install, administer, and maintain Cisco network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.

• Design, implement, and optimize enterprise network architectures that support internal and external business applications.

• Perform Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting , resolving network incidents efficiently and documenting all resolutions.

• Configure and maintain routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP) and VLANs for optimal performance.

• Conduct code upgrades, patching, and lifecycle maintenance for Cisco equipment.

• Implement network security measures , including encryption, segmentation, and access controls.

• Monitor network performance, proactively identifying risks and addressing potential bottlenecks.

• Collaborate with infrastructure and data center teams to plan and execute network enhancements and migrations.

• Maintain clear documentation , including diagrams, change logs, and operational procedures.

• Provide technical support and knowledge sharing with cross-functional IT teams and end-users.

• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support several times a year.

Must Haves (Required Qualifications):

• 8 years of experience in Cisco network design, configuration, and maintenance.

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required; CCNP strongly preferred.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues efficiently.

• Understanding of enterprise routing and switching technologies , including VLANs, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.

• Familiarity with data center networking and infrastructure architecture.

• Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS, NX-OS, and modern Cisco hardware platforms.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Nice to Haves (Preferred Skills):

• Experience performing code upgrades and new hardware installations.

• Background working in large-scale or enterprise environments.

• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and automation frameworks.

• Experience implementing network redundancy, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
