Position Summary (Simplified)

Under the guidance of the Center’s Sexual Health Clinic Coordinator, the Health Educator will provide education on HIV, STIs, and overall sexual health in both clinic and community settings. Responsibilities include conducting individual and group health education sessions, performing HIV/STI testing and counseling, promoting risk reduction strategies, and linking patients to care, including PrEP services. The role also involves maintaining patient records, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and participating in staff meetings. Flexibility for evening and weekend work is required.

Key Responsibilities:

HIV/STI Testing & Counseling

• Conduct risk assessments and create personalized health education plans.
• Perform rapid HIV testing and ensure proper handling of test specimens.
• Provide pre- and post-test counseling, delivering results and risk reduction strategies.

Health Education

• Educate individuals and groups on HIV/STI prevention, treatment, PrEP, and other health topics (e.g., hepatitis, diabetes, hypertension).
• Distribute educational materials and contraceptives.

Linkage to PrEP & HIV Care

• Connect high-risk patients to PrEP services.
• Offer adherence counseling for medication and treatment plans.
• Refer HIV-positive patients to medical care and partner services.

Administrative Duties

• Record HIV counseling and testing activities in databases.
• Maintain clear communication with supervisors and team members.
• Participate in trainings, meetings, and clinic coverage when needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, education, psychology, or a related field preferred; High School Diploma required.
• Experience in HIV counseling, STI education, or PrEP services is preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish-English) skills are a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
