Job Description

Samson Rose has been exclusively engaged with an outdoor robotics client to help them find a Computer Vision Engineer in San Francisco. We are working directly with the recently appointed CTO to hire the best-suited talent for their needs.

This person will focus on sensor calibration, point cloud processing, and terrain analysis to enable precise environmental perception and navigation. You will work closely with cross-disciplinary team members to ensure their robots operate effectively in dynamic construction environments.

A bit about the company:

• Over 100 commercially deployed robots.
• The company is at breakeven with revenue - huge and rare in the current climate.
• They are currently raising and are about to close a Series A that will allow them to scale.
• They have three types of robots that are either sold or leased.
• An innovative company with real-world deployment experience and a need for practical, scalable, impactful solutions.
• Engaged customers who provide feedback.

The person they are looking for should have:

• Proficient in programming languages: C++, Python.
• Experience with point cloud processing and 3D reconstruction.
• Expertise in sensor calibration methods (intrinsic/extrinsic calibration of cameras, LiDAR, and IMUs).
• Strong knowledge of computer vision libraries (OpenCV, PCL etc).
• Understanding of machine learning models for vision tasks (classification, segmentation).

Big pluses for:

• Experience with terrain analysis and segmentation techniques.
• Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System) and real-time processing pipelines.
• Experience with SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping).
• Familiarity with deploying vision models on edge computing hardware.
