Job Description

Responsibilities:

In this role, the Software Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, testing and evaluation of firmware and application software for the next generation remote operated vehicle systems. Some of the responsibilities for this position include:

• Work with a team of engineers to develop next generation ROV systems and ROV tools
• Develop new firmware for next generation ROV system
• Maintain and improve existing codebase and peer review code changes
• Improve firmware quality by identifying issues and common patterns
• Investigate and use new technologies

Requirements:

• Experience working with microprocessors and embedded firmware design
• Proficiency in C and/or C++
• Knowledge of communications protocols (SPI, I2C, UART)
• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related degree.
• Experience with task management and version control software (git), with Jira, Bitbucket, or Confluence
• Ability to read and understand schematics
• Experience with standard lab equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.

Desired Skills:

• Experience developing, integrating, and testing low level or embedded software.
• Experience with Embedded Linux Systems including driver creation.
• Experience with NVIDIA’s Jetson series SBCs
• Clear and concise documentation practices
• Excellent debugging skills
• Proficiency in soldering
• A detail-oriented individual with a strong sense of responsibility and intrinsic motivation
