Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Plumbing/Piping Estimator to join our team in Tempe, AZ. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all phases of the estimating and bidding process for mechanical systems, including plumbing and HVAC. This position requires a thorough understanding of mechanical construction bidding processes and the ability to prepare large and complex bid proposals. You will collaborate with various professionals, perform quantity take-offs, and ensure accurate pricing for materials and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Estimate Preparation : Produce mechanical estimates by analyzing proposals and requirements. Review and understand all project bid documents.
• Quantity Take-offs & Pricing : Conduct quantity take-offs, and price materials, equipment, and subcontractors. Input data into spreadsheets and prepare proposals using estimating software.
• Collaboration : Work on-site and/or in the main office, collaborating with various professionals on design-assist projects, including design firms providing mechanical engineering and design assistance.
• Scope Understanding : Attend pre-bid meetings and scope reviews to understand the complete scope of work required, even with sometimes limited information.
• Site Visits : Visit construction project sites for job walks and meetings in the Greater Phoenix area.
• Additional Duties : Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.

Qualifications

• Experience : 3 to 6 years of Plumbing and Mechanical Piping Estimating experience. Proficiency in preparing large and complex bid proposals.
• Education : Mechanical Engineering Degree or Construction Management Degree from an accredited college/university preferred.
• Knowledge : Thorough knowledge of mechanical construction bidding processes. Specific expertise with Plumbing, Mechanical Piping, and HVAC systems.
• Software Proficiency : Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel). Familiarity with estimating software is preferred.
• Field Experience : Onsite field experience in plumbing and pipefitting is preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Estimating Software : Familiarity with project management/document control software.
• Construction Software : Familiarity with construction/financial software packages.
