Job Description

Construction Superintendent

As an effective Construction Superintendent, this position will supervise staff and ensure projects are delivered on time and to the company's standard. This will require the incumbent to plan, direct, oversee and manage employees and subcontracted personnel throughout the construction project. Prior experience in carpentry or general construction, particularly as it relates to organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation, a plus. Must be able to work well under the pressure of deadlines, able to quickly problem solve, maintain worksite safety and keep upper management apprised of the project status.

Abilities

Tasks

  • Attend regular construction meetings and submit regular reports to project managers.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to discuss and resolve matters, such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.
  • Execute construction plan schedule and coordinate construction project activities with necessary members, to meet project deadlines.
  • Direct and supervise construction or related workers.
  • Adhere to budget estimates and regularly update progress and cost-tracking reports.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and Project Team to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations.
  • Oversee and ensure all projects meet compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Plan, organize, or direct activities concerned with the construction or maintenance of structures, facilities, or systems.
  • Determine labor requirements for dispatching workers to construction sites and notify Project Manager of any necessary change orders.
  • Review job specifications for appropriate construction methods and make any necessary suggested alternatives.
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites to ensure that proper construction procedures are being followed.
  • Plan inspections and obtain construction permits from local authorities.
  • Implement safety and quality guidelines.
  • Keep track of material stock and orders.

  • Calendar and scheduling software - BlueBeam
  • Computer aided design CAD software - Autodesk AutoCAD; Autodesk Revit; Cadsoft Design/Build;
  • Document management software - ProCore, Axios Systems assyst; Daily Manager;
  • Electronic mail software - Microsoft Outlook, GMail

Knowledge

  • Building and Construction - Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
  • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Design - Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Customer Service - Knowledge of customer services, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Requirements :

  • Previous experience as a construction superintendent or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of local safety, quality and health guidelines for construction job sites.
  • Experience with ICF or framing preferred.
  • Familiarity with CAD.
  • Strong organizational and time management experience.
  • Degree in Construction Managment or Engineering a plus.

Experience And Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree; Over 4 years, up to and including 6 years

Salary : $85,000-$110,000 annually, depending on experience (DOE)

Schedule : 7:00AM- 3:30PM, Monday-Friday. Some weekends required.
