Position Overview:

We are excited to welcome a Data Science Intern to our DSE Team for Summer 2025! This is a unique opportunity to work with data scientists and analytics leaders to apply advanced data analysis techniques in the retail and e-commerce sectors. The internship will offer exposure to real-world applications of predictive modeling, sales forecasting, and supply chain optimization, while providing the intern with opportunities to contribute directly to key business decisions and operations.

Internship Duration:

Start Date: June 16, 2025

End Date: August 15, 2025

Schedule: Monday ~ Thursday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (EST)

Friday, 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (EST)

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Data Science Intern, you may have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects involving data analysis, predictive modeling, and cross-functional collaboration, including:

• Exploratory and Predictive Analyses: Conduct analyses on retail and e-commerce sales data to identify trends and insights that can guide business strategies.
• Predictive Model Development: Assist in creating and improving predictive models related to sales forecasting, demand prediction, inventory optimization, and other supply chain analytics.
• Advertising Analytics: Perform data-driven analysis of advertising campaigns, focusing on ROI, channel effectiveness, and personalization strategies.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with the sales, marketing, and operations teams to combine internal data with external retailer insights, improving forecast accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Data Storytelling & Presentation: Present analytical findings and actionable recommendations to key stakeholders, driving data-informed decision-making.

Mentorship & Learning Opportunities:

Throughout the internship, you will receive mentorship and guidance from senior team members, including:

Data Science Manager, who will guide you in the overall project direction, focusing on data science methodology, forecasting approaches, and aligning analyses with business goals.

Data Scientist on the team, who will provide close mentorship on predictive analytics, technical skill development, and hands-on work with modeling.

As part of this internship, you will gain experience and skills in the following areas:

• Advanced data analysis techniques, including predictive modeling and statistical methods.
• Insights into the retail and e-commerce industries, particularly related to sales forecasting, demand modeling, and inventory management.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams, developing your business acumen and improving your data storytelling and presentation skills.

Desired Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
