Job Description: AVNIK has an immediate opportunity for an entry level Data Scientist or Software Developer to provide analysis using US Government Modeling & Simulation ( M&S ) tools for sustainment engineering to the CCDC AvMC. Expertise with Python is required . HS+4 yrs of experience, BS+0Yrs of Experience or MS+0Yrs of Experience.

The candidate will be working as part of an engineering team providing engineering support in logistics, sustainment, and procurement analysis . Ability to identify, research, and analyze data sources/databases to define and extract critical information for engineering analysis. It is essential for the candidate to establish and maintain close relationships with internal AvMC personnel. Candidates must clearly express ideas and concepts, perform as part of a multi-disciplinary team/IPTs/Working Groups, and operate fluidly in a multi-tasking environment.

Responsibilities:

• Interface with customers to define M&S requirements.
• Develop software pipelines to manage M&S environment.
• Provide charts, graphs, data analysis and technical/engineering results to leadership and customers.
• Interpret M&S results for customer briefing development.
• Prepare and present briefings on analysis, current tasks, schedules, and goals.
• Provide technical analysis on Army platform logistics and sustainment key performance metrics.
• Provide input to team on discussion of technical issues, tasks, briefings, goals, potential funding, etc.
• Resolve technical M&S issues through debugging, research, and investigation.Manage wo
• rkload across multiple projects/tasks and meet delivery schedules.
• Ability to work independently with self-motivation
• Professional communication skills demonstrated on a daily basis.

Education & Citizenship Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science , Data Science, Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, etc), Applied Mathematics , or related technical field is required and 0+ years of experience. MS degree is equal to 2 yrs of experience. Hight School (HS) + 4 yrs of experience may be considered in lieu of education. Advanced degree is a plus. Candidate must be a US Citizen .

Required Skills:

• Advanced Python software development skills ( Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, SciPy, SQLite 3 , Native data structures in Python: Nested Lists , Nested Dictionaries)
• Object-Oriented Programming ( OOP )
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are mandatory
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets is mandatory
• Experience working with databases using SQL queries
• Familiarization with Statistical Methods, Analysis and theory ( Linear Regression, Confidence Intervals )
• Familiarization with M&S theory (Stochastic, Deterministic, Monte Carlo, Heuristic, Discrete Event)
• Advanced skills with MS Office (PowerPoint)
• Ability to clean and parse large and complex data sets
• Self-starter, independent worker, strong work ethic
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills; ability to clearly communicate in discussions and written documents, and to deliver regular updates and feedback clearly and tactfully is essential.
• Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance

Desired Skills:

• Experience conducting statistical analysis - Excel and Python (Pandas)
• Experience with Integrated Development Environment (IDE) - VS Code , other
• Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) – Magic Draw, Cameo
• Experience writing technical reports and developing customers briefings

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to successfully complete Background Investigation to include: 50 State Criminal, Education, Employment, Credit and Driving Records Checks for continued employment.
• Must be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance . Possession of an INTERIM SECRET security clearance is required to begin employment; Ability to maintain a SECRET security clearance is required for continued employment; US Citizenship is Required.
