Job Description

About the Company

Our client is a highly respected general contractor and construction manager known for delivering excellence across commercial, retail, industrial, infrastructure, and institutional markets. From simple upgrades to complex design/build projects, the company has mastered the operational flow required for peak efficiency—consistently identifying opportunities to reduce costs, accelerate schedules, and deliver exceptional value.

Their reputation for professionalism, collaboration, and quality craftsmanship is recognized by both customers and subcontractors. With projects ranging from $100,000 to more than $50 million, the firm continues to expand and is seeking talented estimating professionals to support its growing backlog.

About the Position

The company is actively hiring an Estimator to join a dynamic and growing preconstruction team. These roles will support the accurate preparation of estimates, budgets, and proposals across a wide range of project types and sizes.

Estimators will collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and leadership to ensure competitive, high-quality estimates that align with company standards and client expectations. The firm offers the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule, allowing several days per week in-office and the remainder from a home office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, cost analyses, and conceptual estimates.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to understand scope and risk.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Assist with the development of project schedules and value-engineering options.
  • Support bid strategies, preconstruction planning, and proposal preparation.
  • Maintain organized estimate files, cost history, and budgeting tools.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings related to project pursuits.
  • Work collaboratively with operations, design, and leadership teams.
  • Lead estimate efforts, mentor junior staff, and manage complex pursuits.

Requirements

  • Experience in estimating for a GC/CM in commercial, retail, industrial, infrastructure, or institutional projects.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, ProEst, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proven ability to lead estimating efforts and mentor team members.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000
  • Annual bonus program
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Retirement plan with company contribution
  • Hybrid work schedule (home/office flexibility)
  • Strong culture of professional growth and mentorship
