Location: Cambridge, MA (Onsite)

Length: 6+ months

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Inspector to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing inspections and audits of purchased parts, materials, equipment, and quality control programs to ensure compliance with company standards. You will interpret technical documentation such as manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications, and lists to assess whether units or systems meet quality standards. Additionally, you will conduct sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials, ensuring that all products meet the required specifications for in-process or final assemblies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Perform a variety of inspections on materials, components, assemblies, and systems, including visual, workmanship, dimensional, and electrical inspections.
  • Generate and revise inspection procedures and associated workflows to improve processes.
  • Conduct source inspections at off-site facilities as required.
  • Identify problem areas, bottlenecks, and assist in their resolution to maintain efficiency and quality.
  • Document inspection results and generate detailed inspection reports.
  • Ensure that work is performed in a consistent manner by developing and maintaining clear procedures.
  • Adhere to safety and security rules and maintain good housekeeping practices in the workplace.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of lower-grade personnel and new hires to ensure they understand department and lab policies.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision to complete assignments effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of technical schooling in engineering, science, and/or mathematics, or Associate’s degree in engineering or science, or five college-level technical courses in engineering, science, or mathematics, or Quality Inspector Certification (CQI) from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) is also acceptable.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a quality assurance organization, specifically related to the inspection of mechanical and/or electronic commodities.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of industry and military standards associated with quality control of electronics and mechanical commodities, including soldering, welding, crimping, cross-sectional analysis, wiring, and cabling.
  • Ability to interpret and work with engineering drawings, sketches, and inspection procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Capable of following both verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality control focus.
  • IPC certifications, such as IPC-610 and IPC-600, are highly preferred.
  • Candidates may be required to obtain a government security clearance.
  • Candidates must be a United States Citizen.
