Position opportunity: The Lead Carpenter will work alongside the superintendent to work on various projects and will be responsible for all aspects from the beginning to the completion of the project. This may include installation of cabinetry, rough plumbing, light electrical, roof repair, or other related updates – each project varies. The duties include: 

  • Oversee and manage home remodeling projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
  • Oversight support for a team including laborers and/or subcontractors providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Perform carpentry tasks, including framing, installation, and finishing, as required.
  • Inspect work to ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
  • Project cleanup and preparation for the next subcontractor to perform their portion of the project.
  • Maintenance of tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Order and manage materials and supplies for projects.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.

Ideal candidate: The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry and in remodeling residential projects, with the ability to manage projects from start to finish while working effectively and professionally with the clients, subcontractors, and other related parties. The Lead Carpenter will ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety. Experience will also include:

  • Proven experience as a Lead Carpenter or similar role.
  • Prior experience in home renovations, residential remodeling, or other related experience.
  • Proficiency with tools and equipment necessary for various remodeling projects.
  • Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills along with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Certification in carpentry or relevant field is desired but not required.

This role is fully onsite working at various locations throughout the Central Coast. The projects are primarily between Paso Robles and Santa Maria. This is a full-time role with vacation, holiday, and sick pay provided. The pay range is from $70,000 to $75,000 annually. This position requires the team member to have their own tools and must have reliable transportation.
