We are El Gallo Taqueria in Midtown Miami seeking a skilled Line Cook/Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation and execution of delicious dishes in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Duties:
1. Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
2. Assist in cooking and preparing various menu items under the guidance of the chef
3. Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
4. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash and organizing of all areas.
5. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly. Closely following FIFO.
6. Monitor food stock and place orders when there are shortages
7. Preferred knowledge of Mexican cuisine (sauces, preparations, dishes)
8. Strong knife skills with ability to execute dishes consistently and effectively.
9. Expert in all food safety procedures
10. Culinary degree is a plus.
11. Ability to work well with a cohesive team in a fast-paced environment.
12. Ensuring that food portions and food presentation meet standards.
13. Maintains workspace clean at all times.
14. Cleaning and dishwashing is part as well.
Experience:
1. Previous experience in a professional kitchen or culinary environment is preferred
2. Knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards
3. Ability to work well in a team setting
4. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
5. Familiarity with menu planning and meal preparation techniques
