Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care in various clinical settings, including outpatient clinics, hospital environments, and emergency departments. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of medical procedures, excellent patient service skills, and experience with EHR systems. Experience in dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, or trauma centers is highly valued. Duties

  • Collect blood samples and perform phlebotomy procedures with precision and care
  • Assist with patient intake, including recording vital signs and updating medical histories
  • Support physicians and nurses with medical procedures, including medication administration and basic life support when necessary
  • Document patient information accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
  • Prepare patients for examinations or treatments in outpatient, inpatient, or emergency settings
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures such as X-ray or other imaging techniques as required
  • Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to safety protocols
  • Support medical administrative tasks such as ICD coding, appointment scheduling, and patient follow-up
  • Provide compassionate patient service across diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics (PICU), surgical patients, and trauma cases
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with hospital policies, especially within Level I or Level II trauma centers

Requirements

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist is preferred; relevant training or internship experience is acceptable
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, ICD coding, and medication administration
  • Experience working in hospital medicine, urgent care, dermatology clinics, or trauma centers is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and medical-surgical documentation processes
  • Ability to perform venipuncture accurately and efficiently under supervision if necessary
  • Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are a plus
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or Level I trauma centers
  • Flexibility to work outpatient or inpatient shifts as needed; experience in OR settings or Geriatrics is advantageous
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and committed to maintaining high standards of patient safety and confidentiality
