Job Description
Essential functions - Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcomes all patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors in person or on the telephone.
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information at check-in and in accordance to practice guidelines.
- Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information and collecting any appropriate charges.
- Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments and diagnostic services using EMR technology and physician scheduling preferences.
- Maintains registration flow by efficiently moving patients through the registration process and readying them for clinical staff by use of Nextech EMR and Practice management systems. Communicates scheduling changes to Clinical Coordinator.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Comforts patients by answering questions, providing information, and keeping the reception area in order. Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes to front desk coordinator.
- Daily reconciliation of payment log.
- Scans all medical records and correspondence into EMR systems.
- Coordination of medical records (i.e. requests, filing).
- Works collaboratively with staff to achieve optimal efficiency, outcomes and morale.
- Prepares for next day appointments prior to end of business day.
- Performs self-audits to identify and track scheduling discrepancies; implements solutions.
- Coordination of outgoing packages and mail.
- Other administrative duties as needed or required.
- Must be able to work at alternative Ross Eye Institute locations as needed.
- Demonstrates commitment to agency mission and goals.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred but is on the job training and looking for someone motivated to learn.
- Strong knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures preferred.
- Proficient in computers and relevant software applications and practice management technology.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices; responds appropriately to challenging or demanding customer situations.
- Possession of strong problem solving skills and sound judgment.
- Ability to achieve team goals while demonstrating organizational values and utilizing resources responsibly.
- Ability to be proactive and take initiative.
- Exhibit high level of quality through attention to detail and monitoring of work.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and build effective relationships with internal and external customers to achieve goals.
- Possession of strong organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as, exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
- Deals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
