Job Description

The Immigration Center for Women and Children (ICWC) seeks a Part-time Temporary Administrative Assistant to join our multi-disciplinary team in ICWC’s Las Vegas office to cover for a maternity leave. The position could start as soon as mid- April and will last until mid-August.

ICWC is a non-profit legal organization providing free or affordable immigration services to underrepresented women and children. Since its founding in 2004, ICWC has become a national expert in humanitarian immigration cases assisting survivors of trauma and has served over 50,000 people. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handling telephone and walk-in reception duties
  • Processing incoming mail, completing data entry, scheduling appointments, and managing/monitoring the client database and calendaring systems
  • Conducting performing a thorough telephone screening to determine eligibility for ICWC services and scheduling consultations
  • Copying, filing, mailing, and fee collection
  • Translating documents from Spanish to English
  • Assisting with preparation of legal documents, immigration forms and other documents under the supervision of attorneys and accredited representatives
  • Communicating with clients in person, via telephone, and by mail
  • Assisting with various operational duties including ordering office supplies and managing facilities

Requirements :

  • Spanish language fluency: The position requires the ability to communicate daily through oral and written communications in both Spanish and English. The majority of ICWC's clients are monolingual Spanish speakers, and reception is their first point of contact. Please clearly specify in your application your ability to fluently communicate in both Spanish and English. If you do not speak Spanish fluently, you cannot be considered for this position.
  • Highschool diploma. This position is a great opportunity for high school graduates, college students, or aspiring law students to gain experience during summer break. Applicants with Associate & Bachelor degrees are also welcome and encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated interest in low-income legal services and/or a commitment to civil liberties and immigrants' rights.

  • Previous experience in an office or reception setting (desired)
  • Previous experience in immigration legal services (desired)
