Job Description

Midwest Refuah Health Center is looking for a Pediatrician or Family Physician with significant experience in pediatric care. The selected provider will offer comprehensive healthcare services to patients aged 0-18 if s/he is a Pediatrician, or to patients of all ages if s/he a Family Physician. The focus will be on preventative care, managing chronic conditions, and providing health education to ensure our community has access to high-quality healthcare.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Assessment:

  • Conducts health assessments for pediatric and adult patients across diverse settings (clinic, homes, hospitals) by taking comprehensive health histories, performing physical exams, ordering/performing diagnostic tests, and formulating diagnoses.
  • Delivers culturally competent care, working closely with patients and families to set health goals and create tailored care plans.

Treatment & Collaboration:

  • Prescribes a range of treatments to address health needs for both pediatric and adult patients, collaborating with mid-level providers and ensuring educational resources and counseling are available for patients and families.
  • Coordinates care with community health nurses, other providers, and multidisciplinary professionals to deliver high-quality, integrated care for patients across all age groups.
  • Maintains continuity of care through after-hours on-call support, obtaining hospital privileges, and performing home visits as appropriate.

Quality & Protocol Development:

  • Engages in quality improvement activities, protocol development, and peer review to maintain high standards of care.
  • Evaluates patient care processes for both pediatric and adult services to identify improvement opportunities and implements recommended changes.

Professional Development & Mentorship:

  • Acts as a mentor for new healthcare staff, interns, and residents, supporting professional growth and development within the team.
  • Participates in ongoing education to maintain clinical competence, board certification, and alignment with best practices in both pediatric and adult care.

Documentation & Standards Compliance:

  • Maintains comprehensive, accurate, and timely patient records per organizational standards for pediatric and adult care.
  • Adheres to professional and ethical standards as outlined by relevant medical bodies, including the AMA, AAP, and AAFP.

Qualifications :

  • MD or DO with board certification in family medicine or pediatrics, with significant pediatric experience and proficiency in adult care.
  • Active Illinois physician license, Controlled Substance License, DEA, board certification (completed within two years if not currently certified), and verification of legal claims history via the Physician National Data Bank.
  • Preference for candidates with extensive experience in both pediatric and adult primary care within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or Community Health Center.
