This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Remote Geospatial Project Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering geospatial projects that meet client expectations. Your focus will be on ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, while effectively managing remote teams. You will facilitate communication between clients and technical teams, track progress, and ensure adherence to project scope and quality standards. Success in this position requires a sound understanding of geospatial concepts and a strong aptitude for project management methodologies.

Accountabilities

  • Manage assigned enterprise GIS projects from initiation through closeout, including schedules, budgets, deliverables, and risk tracking.
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of project teams, working closely with developers, GIS analysts, and subject matter experts using Agile methodology.
  • Support client communication by preparing project updates, leading regular status calls, and documenting project decisions.
  • Manage remote project teams and tasking using web-based collaboration tools.
  • Track and report on project progress using established project management tools.
  • Monitor and control budgets and expenses, escalating variances as needed.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle, including leading regular video meetings.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure deliverables meet project requirements.
  • Provide input on proposals and estimates by contributing project data or lessons learned.
  • Ensure project files, documentation, and records are maintained according to standards.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience managing GIS or IT projects, with 5+ years in the geospatial field.
  • Experience managing budgets across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Understanding of Agile and other iterative project management methodologies.
  • Experience with geospatial products and Esri-based GIS solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and clients.
  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, GIS, computer science, or a related field.
  • Project Management certification (PMP preferred).
  • Proficiency with common project management and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Project, DevOps, SharePoint, Teams, Jira).
