Principal Duties and Responsibilities

St. Columbkille Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and organized school secretary to serve as the welcoming face of our school community.
• Greet and assist students, parents, faculty, and visitors in a warm and professional manner.
• Manage incoming calls, emails, and correspondence, directing inquiries appropriately.
• Maintain student records, attendance, and enrollment data in accordance with school and diocesan policies.
• Handle general administrative tasks, including filing, photocopying, data entry, and basic office equipment maintenance.
• Administer first aid, dispense prescription medications, and assess student injuries as needed (training provided).
• Provide administrative support to faculty and staff, including document preparation and organization.
• Order and maintain office and classroom supplies.
• Coordinate office activities and communications related to school events, schedules, and deadlines.
• Serve as office manager to the principal and assistant principal.
• Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and parents.
• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a dynamic school environment.
• Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Experience with student information systems or willingness to learn.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
• Friendly and welcoming demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift and move light to medium-weight items (e.g., packages, boxed deliveries).
• Understanding of and commitment to Catholic school values and mission preferred.

Education and Experience
• Experience working in a school setting is valued but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Must pass a background check and complete Safe Environment Training.
