Substation Estimator

Location: Preferably Dallas–Fort Worth, TX (Hybrid Schedule Preferred – Remote Considered for Exceptional Candidates)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $110,000 – $132,000 annually (DOE)
Total Compensation Package: $125,000 – $145,000+ (including bonuses, commissions, and full benefits)

About the Role

seeking an experienced Substation Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of substation design, components, and materials , with a proven track record of delivering accurate and comprehensive estimates.

This role is preferably based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area to support a hybrid work arrangement (especially during onboarding). However, we are open to remote work for exceptional candidates with extensive substation estimating experience and demonstrated independence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop accurate and detailed Bills of Material (BOM) based on substation design requirements.

• Interpret and utilize general arrangement drawings and one-line diagrams .

• Perform quantity take-offs from substation drawings.

• Ensure all materials listed in the BOM meet fit, form, and function requirements .

• Collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to validate material specifications.

• Maintain strong familiarity with manufacturers, material availability, and lead times .

• Support proposal and bid development by providing accurate cost estimates and material lists .

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in substation estimating .

• Proven expertise in BOM creation, substation layouts, and one-line diagrams .

• Strong understanding of electrical components, assemblies, and sourcing .

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills .

• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings .

• Strong communication skills; able to work independently or as part of a team.

• Familiarity with estimating software/tools and Microsoft Office Suite .

• A seasoned estimator with a comprehensive understanding of high-voltage substations .

• Skilled at turning engineering drawings into precise material lists.

• Known for accuracy, detail orientation, and ability to meet deadlines.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment , collaborating across engineering, procurement, and sales teams.

Work Environment

• Hybrid: Preference for candidates in the DFW area , working part-time in-office during onboarding.

• Remote: Open to fully remote candidates with extensive experience and demonstrated independence.
