Contract Duration: Through 8/31/25 (Possible Extension)

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support our Application Teams by developing and maintaining user-facing and technical documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of application functionality from both technical and end-user perspectives and the ability to translate complex processes into clear, structured documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain user documentation, technical manuals, and process documentation for applications and technology systems.
  • Write a variety of content including technical articles, reports, brochures, and manuals for a range of users.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and analyze technical information, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Organize procedures in a logical sequence that supports user understanding and effective implementation.
  • Coordinate visual elements such as graphics to support the overall quality and usability of documentation.
  • Provide insight and structure for documenting technical concepts and user procedures based on a comprehensive understanding of applications.

Minimum Requirements:

8+ years of experience with the following:

  • Texas Vital Statistics laws, policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio)
  • Business analysis methodologies
  • Analyzing and evaluating complex IT applications, policies, and issues
  • Verbal and written communication with individuals and groups
  • Using initiative, independent judgment, and managing time effectively
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, including conflict resolution
  • Preparing concise reports and responses for management review
  • Gathering, organizing, and analyzing facts to recommend solutions
  • Producing accurate work estimates and monitoring progress
  • Communicating clearly in person and over the phone
  • Reading and interpreting cursive handwriting
