General Purpose

Union Power Plant Operations/Mining Careers

Responsibilities

• This position will be largely dedicated to performing functions necessary to maintain and operate the plant’s coal handling system.
• This position will assist in the preventive maintenance program to avoid unnecessary downtime and to maintain safe working habits. This position may include shift and weekend coverage.
• This position may also be assigned to perform the functions of general helper, building maintenance worker, painter, warehouse worker, custodian, assisting equipment mechanic and/or any other function necessary to assist other plant personnel in maintaining the plant's operation.
• Use of basic hand tools. pneumatic tools, and electric tools when applicable. Temporary leak repairs (to be followed through with workorder), belt skirting adjustments, valve packing adjustment. light equipment, and truck servicing to include oil changes and lubrication. Changing spin on light bulbs and florescent tubes.
• Use of light equipment operation may include forklifts, skidsteer loaders, backhoes, flatbed trucks, flatbed truck with snowplows on plant property, pickup trucks, scissor lifts, sucker truck, (backup for equipment operator), high pressure units, jackhammers, compaction equipment, sandblasting and painting equipment. Snowblowers, lawn mowers, vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.

• Must have a high school diploma or proof of equivalent.
• Must pass qualifying physical exam and drug screen.
• Must be willing to be flexible and work well with others.

Specific Job Duties That Require Physical Demands: Vac truck operation, snow removal, plant cleanup, etc.
