Job Title: Caregiver / Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Location: Foster City, California

Full-Time (40-45 hours/week)

OR

Part-Time (8-16 hours/week) 1-2 days off 8 hour shifts A day.

Pay: LIVE-IN $18 / LIVE-OUT $20 per hour

After 10 months of being employed $300 bonus

Job Description:

Since 1986, Caring Hearts Home, Inc., a Level 3 Adult Residential Facility (ARF) in Foster City, is seeking calm, compassionate, and reliable individuals to join our team as Caregiver/Direct Support Professionals (DSP). Our facility serves 3 clients with developmental disabilities adults 18-59 years old.

We are looking for someone who remains calm and collected in any situation, can drive to assist with client appointments and errands, and is open to working overtime as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Client Support: Assist six residents with daily activities, including personal care, hygiene, incontinence and mobility as needed. 2 clients go program M-F btw 9am - 3pm and 1 and one client is 1on1- stays home.
• Daily Living Assistance: Support with meal preparation, housekeeping, and maintaining a clean and safe environment, administering medication.
• Driving Duties: Transport clients to appointments, errands, or community outings using a personal or company-provided vehicle. (not required)
• Problem-Solving: Stay calm and level-headed during emergencies or challenging situations, ensuring client safety.
• Documentation: Keep accurate daily records of activities and observations using basic computer skills and writing.
• Medication Assistance: Administer or supervise medication following training and facility guidelines.

Requirements:

• Social security with status Only
• Certification: Preferred to have valid DSP 1 Certificate or Open to get training and receive their cert. within 1 year of employment.
• Driver’s License: preferable but not a must
• Must read and write (basic documentation)
• Calm, patient, and reliable demeanor, especially during challenging situations.
• Basic English speaking, reading, and writing skills.
• Familiarity with basic computer typing and record-keeping.
• Criminal Background Check- Fingerprinting before start
• Must pass a background check and TB test (or be willing to obtain).
• Comfortable with shared accommodations for live-in staff (if applicable).
