The ideal candidate is hands-on, solutions-focused, and highly organized, with a solid understanding of both aerial and underground telecom construction methods. This position is a key player in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support underground and aerial construction crews, including operators, laborers, linemen, and locators.
  • Conduct daily tailgate meetings to communicate jobsite goals, safety topics, and daily work plans.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members and hold crews accountable for safety, quality, and production.
  • Coordinate with job site foremen to ensure production goals are achieved.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce compliance with OSHA, DOT, NESC, 811 regulations, and internal safety policies.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE, climbing gear, fall protection, trench protection, and traffic control.
  • Document and address near misses, hazards, and incidents; enforce stop-work authority when needed.
  • Approve and submit daily safety documentation (e.g., JHAs, pre-job briefings).
  • Conduct and document at least five jobsite safety inspections per week.

Project Execution & Quality Control

  • Review job prints, permits, maps, and dig tickets before mobilization.
  • Schedule work to optimize productivity and minimize delays.
  • Oversee execution of trenching, boring, pole transfers, fiber lashing, slack storage, grounding, and cabinet/vault installation.
  • Communicate field changes in real-time to managers for approval.
  • Monitor installation quality of conduit, strand, fiber, tracer wire, and restoration work.
  • Record redlines and field changes; ensure accurate documentation for project closeout.

Productivity & Resource Coordination

  • Set daily and weekly production targets; monitor progress and troubleshoot delays.
  • Track labor hours, equipment usage, and material consumption across multiple job sites.
  • Communicate project status, material shortages, and permitting issues to management in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with logistics, warehouse, engineering, and subcontractors to minimize downtime.

Communication & Reporting

  • Serve as the liaison between field crews, upper management, and clients.
  • Maintain digital job documentation, including daily production reports, JHAs, safety forms, and logs.
  • Provide accurate and timely updates to company leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Represent company values and maintain professional conduct on all job sites.

Performance Expectations

  • Be consistently present and visible on active job sites.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
  • Demonstrate ownership of safety, quality, and crew performance.
  • Lead by example with urgency, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Deliver projects on time and to spec without compromising safety or quality.

Other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction prints, city maps, and telecom designs.
  • Working knowledge of NESC, OSHA, and state dig laws (811).
  • Strong digital literacy; comfortable with tablets, spreadsheets, project tracking tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skilled in operating construction equipment (mini-excavators, trenchers, HDD rigs) and office equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, calmly, and assertively.
  • Capable of making independent decisions and solving problems under pressure.

Education & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in underground and/or aerial telecom construction supervision preferred.
