Title: Field Service Laser & Plasma Cutting Technician

Reports To: Field Service Manager

Scope of Position: Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems with the Laser and Plasma Cutting machines. Coordinate and oversee all aspects of installations, and any other service-related area.

Applicant must have 3-5 years of mechanical and electrical field service experience and have completed industrial installations at a customers worksite.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Install, set-up and repair all Vulcan Laser plasma cutting and laser machines and manufactured equipment at customer location to perform as manufactured.
• Assemble, build, test and debug new plasma and laser cutting machines, assessing need and fabricating fixtures for test.
• Should be familiar with, and preferably can program, Allen Bradley PLC's
• Travel to customer locations to perform field service calls
• Coordinate field startups and servicing with the Service Manager for sales, customers, vendors and Formtek personnel.
• Troubleshoot any mechanical or electrical components and repair as needed.
• Ensure the Service Manager has determined type of job, the technical requirements and identify all necessary logistics.
• Involve sales and/or engineering as required.
• Track parts required for assembly.
• Assist and conduct repairs and maintenance of shop equipment.
• Train customer’s staff in operation of the new equipment and review all necessary safety precautions.
• Must read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Travel necessary, estimated to be between 25% -35% of time, varies depending on service projects needs. Must have current driver’s license as well as a valid passport.
• Ensure that all paperwork is processed for billing and other accounting functions.
• Assess and suggest alternatives, new equipment or upgrades that may be better suited to the successful and profitable completion of the order.
• 3-5 years of mechanical field service experience or industrial equipment installation..
• Proficient in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and machine install and wiring.

Sales Support

• Conduct machine evaluations for customer’s to determine if repairs require upgrades, etc.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Typically requires 3-5 years or more years of experience in a manufacturing, mechanical environment.

• PC skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet)
• Allen Bradley PLC software/programming
• Time Management/ Organizational skills
• Good customer service skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will have no direct supervisory responsibilities but will coordinate with other field service technicians and assist them whenever needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is office based in Formtek’s Twinsburg, Ohio facility and does require service-related, primarily domestic, travel to our customers worksites.
