Job Title: Mill Shift Supervisor, 1st Shift – Fort Dodge
Job Rate: $34.80/hour
Role & Responsibilities:
· Must know, understand and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and follow all applicable safe operating procedures and rules including appropriate personal protective equipment and housekeeping requirements in all areas of the Mill.
· Must monitor employees under supervision to ensure compliance with all applicable safety practices and company procedures. Must understand and appropriately exercise the independent authority to discipline, up to and including suspension, in the event of non-compliance with company policies. Must conduct investigations regarding employee complaints, and performance/conduct issues.
· Must independently direct the activity of employees assigned to department (crew). Must evaluate the performance and skill level of subordinate employees and initiate wage increases when an employee qualifies for promotion under the Operator Rate Program. The supervisor is responsible for independently directing and monitoring the training activities of employees to develop a cross-trained workforce. Must participate in the selection process for new employees and make effective recommendations in hiring determinations.
· Provide support and backup for Mill Foreman as needed.
· Responsible for monitoring and motivating employees by providing coaching with ongoing and critical feedback and individual training.
· Responsible for the safety of all employees and implements the plant safety, regulatory compliance and housekeeping programs.
· Must uphold department quality standards and actively participate in the presentation of quality products.
· Must be willing and able to communicate with personnel from the office and other departments.
· Must be willing to work 6:45 am to 3 pm on a regular basis, and overtime as required, up to 7 days a week, to meet customer needs.
· Must be willing to learn all aspects of all Mill Operations areas.
· Participation in workplace organization and 5S Initiatives.
· Willingness to support and/or participate on continuous improvement projects.
Qualifications:
· Must know, understand, and follow the Fort Dodge Plant Safety Rules.
· Able to work in a manufacturing setting in a safe manner and follow all plant safety rules and practices. Maintain a high standard for housekeeping within the work area.
· Will work with the Mill Foreman to direct the activities of all Mill employees on third shift.
· Must maintain good communications with all department employees and work together as a team at all levels.
· Familiar with common hand tools and how to properly use them (hammer, wrench, screwdrivers, pliers, putty knife, etc.)
· Computer skills needed for data entry and reporting. Process will involve quality data or require comments related to the production/loading operation.
· Read and complete documented inspection procedures. Follow instructions on printed work orders to complete assigned tasks.

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
