About the Role

A well-positioned mineral exploration and development company is seeking a Project Director to lead the advancement of their flagship gold project, following the successful completion of a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS). The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the mine development cycle, with particular expertise in managing Feasibility Studies and transitioning projects into construction through to production. This is a pivotal leadership role at a critical inflection point in the project’s lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the transition from PFS through to Feasibility Study (FS) and beyond.
• Responsible for integrating technical, environmental, permitting, and financial components into a comprehensive development strategy, ensuring readiness for construction and de-risking the path to production.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to ensure technical quality, schedule adherence, and cost control.
• Manage all third-party consultants and engineering firms involved in FS delivery, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
• Drive risk mitigation strategies across technical, environmental, social, and economic dimensions of the project.
• Lead the development and execution of project timelines, budgets, and reporting structures.
• Support permitting processes in coordination with regulatory and community stakeholders.
• Develop early-stage project execution plans and construction readiness strategies in anticipation of a production decision.
• Regularly communicate progress, risks, and critical milestones to senior leadership and the Board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, or related field; advanced degree or MBA is an asset.
• Substantial experience delivering feasibility studies and advancing projects toward production.
• Demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary project environments with a focus on gold or similar open-pit operations. (Oxide gold experience a huge plus)
• Strong understanding of regulatory permitting frameworks, particularly in the western U.S. or North American jurisdictions.
• Proven ability to manage external consultants, complex budgets, and evolving project scopes.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
