Job Description

Job Title: Sterile Processing TechnicianJob Description Observe and assist under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical staff. Responsibilities include setting up the operating room, preparing and transporting patients for surgery, and adjusting lights and equipment. Ensure instruments are ready for specific surgeries, manage case loads, and organize schedules while preparing trays. This role requires working on an on-call basis to meet patient care and business needs, with the possibility of cross-training in other clinical areas. Responsibilities + Collect used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination. + Manually clean supplies of contaminants, remove waste matter, and operate and maintain decontamination equipment. + Prepare and pack decontaminated supplies for sterilization. + Monitor and operate sterilization equipment. + Examine supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized. + Test and report any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment. + Sterilize, prepare, wrap, and organize equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures. Essential Skills + Proficiency in surgical instrumentation, sterile processing, and sterilization procedures. + Experience in operating room settings. + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. + Knowledge in surgical technology and use of autoclave. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School Diploma or equivalent. + At least 6 months of experience in an operating room setting or equivalent education/training. Work Environment The role is based in a sterile environment with shifts from Monday to Friday, involving 8-hour days. The schedule may vary, offering flexibility with one day off during the week. Rotations ensure that no single person consistently works on specific days like Fridays or Mondays. Shifts start from 6:30 am to 4:00/4:30 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. The workload can range from 15 to 30 cases a day, depending on the schedule, with faster cases taking less time. Preparation involves pulling cases for upcoming days, up to three days in advance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Leawood, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
