About the Role

As a UI/UX Designer at Othram, you will design and implement software interfaces that power the world’s most advanced forensic DNA analysis platform. This role blends web development, UX optimization, and interface design to create intuitive, high-performance websites that empower users and enhance forensic capabilities. You will collaborate closely with developers, scientists, engineers, and law enforcement partners to ensure our tools are accurate, efficient, and scalable. This role is ideal for a proactive designer who excels at creating user-centered, visually compelling interfaces and thrives in a mission-driven environment.

What You Get to Do Every Day

* Design the latest crime-solving tools.

* Work closely with developers and bioinformaticists to develop the next generation of crime-solving DNA analysis tools

* Develop usable interfaces, working with web developers to ensure a fantastic user experience

* Enhance and improve Othram’s websites and online tools:

* DNASolves is a showcase for Othram solves, providing the consumers with the latest information on solved cases, and allowing them to contribute to the future of justice through crowdfunding.

* Othram’s company website provides critical information on Othram’s mission, latest research, and products; our online portal provides hundreds of law enforcement agencies with the latest information about how their case is progressing.

* Othram’s MDFI is the world’s leading forensic DNA analysis platform, where the latest DNA analysis tools help solve cases.

* Impact how the world sees the future of justice.

* Work with marketing and sales departments to share Othram’s mission with the world.

* Ensure high standards of design in Othram’s public-facing web properties.

* Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:

* Work closely with developers and scientists to build analytical and scientific tools

* Work with laboratory scientists and process experts to design the best ways of communicating lab results to law enforcement customers.

What You Bring to the Role

Required Competencies and Experience:

* Exceptional visual design skills to create appealing and functional websites and interfaces.

* Proficiency in wireframe, mockup, and prototype creation using tools like Figma.

* Expertise in bringing designs to life with React, Typescript, CSS, and front-end technologies.

* A strong understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards.

* Strong communication skills to translate complex scientific concepts into user-friendly interfaces.

* A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and deliver results.

Preferred Competencies and Experience:

* Technical Excellence: Proven ability to design, build, and deliver complex, large-scale projects.

* Knowledge and expertise in front-end web development using React, CSS, Typescript, SVG

* High standards for visual design, with attention to detail and usability.

* Project Ownership: Track record of driving projects to completion in dynamic environments.

* Hands-On Contribution: Active involvement in solving technical challenges.

* Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Experience working across technical and scientific teams.
