• This is an 11-month contract

Project Description: Candidate needs to be local to Southport, NC for 24 hour response to call-outs and alternating weekend inspections. Preferred NC wastewater certification and pump repair experience but not required.

Responsible for operating and maintaining all equipment associated with the individual’s primary service line. The ability to operate and maintain other service line equipment is strongly desired and will weigh heavily during annual review and further promotion within OIS. Drives company vehicles with valid license. If DOT driver, complies with all DOT regulations and record-keeping. Communicates the status of the assigned job to division management and customer representatives (before, during and after the job is completed).

Position Purpose:

Responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a Grade III Wastewater treatment plant, Spray Irrigation System and Class II Wastewater Collection System. Serves as the backup operator in charge of the treatment plant, spray irrigation system and collection system.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conducts routine testing of water and records test results and maintains the plant log book with accurate and timely entries of activities
• Monitors all charts, gauges, SCADA, and other operating equipment and maintains calibration of plant instrumentation and on-line analyzers according to the frequency specified by permitting agencies and/or the manufacturer
• Evaluates all data and information pertaining to the proper operation of the facility and notify Chief Plant Operator of any abnormal conditions
• Makes necessary adjustments ensuring the treatment processes operate in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Conducts inspection of pump stations and collection system
• Conducts corrective and preventative maintenance and repairs on pumps and equipment
• Files required regulatory documents required by assigned operating permits
• Responsible for maintaining property in good order to include housekeeping and grounds upkeep
• Follows proper health and safety standards
• Ensures that all equipment is in proper and safe working order; conducts corrective and preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma

3 years industry experience

Strong mechanical and maintenance background with pumps
