Maintenance Manager Manufacturing Operations

Location: Hazelwood, MO (St. Louis area)
Salary Range: $135,000 $145,000
Employment Type: Full-Time
Operations: 24/7 Manufacturing Facility
Direct Reports: 4 Maintenance Supervisors

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations at a high-volume, 24/7 manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for transforming the maintenance function from a reactive, firefighting organization into a proactive, strategic, and reliability-driven operation .

The ideal candidate is a strong people leader and systems thinker -someone who can assess talent, build high-performing teams, implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and partner with operations to drive uptime, safety, and long-term asset reliability.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy

• Lead and develop a maintenance organization operating 24/7 through four maintenance supervisors

• Assess current team capabilities and upgrade talent, structure, and accountability as needed

• Establish a proactive maintenance culture focused on reliability, planning, and continuous improvement

• Coach supervisors on leadership, prioritization, and execution

• Serve as the primary maintenance partner to plant leadership and operations

Maintenance & Reliability

• Transition the site from reactive maintenance to preventive and predictive maintenance best practices

• Develop and execute long-term asset reliability strategies

• Improve work order planning, scheduling, and backlog management

• Analyze downtime, failure trends, and root causes to prevent recurrence

• Drive improvements in equipment uptime, MTBF, and maintenance cost control

Systems, Processes & Execution

• Implement or optimize CMMS usage and maintenance KPIs

• Establish clear standards for work execution, PM compliance, and documentation

• Lead reliability initiatives, capital improvement support, and equipment upgrades

• Ensure maintenance activities align with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements

• Partner with engineering, production, and operations to support plant goals

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager or Senior Maintenance Leader in a manufacturing environment

• Experience leading multi-shift or 24/7 maintenance teams

• Strong background in industrial maintenance (mechanical, electrical, automation exposure preferred)

• Demonstrated success moving organizations from reactive to proactive maintenance

• Strong people leadership, coaching, and talent assessment skills

• Data-driven mindset with experience using KPIs and CMMS systems

• Ability to influence across departments and lead change

Preferred Qualifications

• Food & Beverage, CPG, or high-speed manufacturing experience

• Reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) or TPM exposure

• Experience managing union or non-union environments

• Background supporting automation-heavy production lines
